Virii, Fixing Cats, Abandoned Puppies and an Amusing Week

As a few of you know, I'm the tech half of the house here of three, sometimes four or five, people here in our home.  As well, most people who have grown up around computers know that there are an insane number of viruses(virii?), malware, spyware, bots, and trojans out there just waiting to find the unsuspecting.  That's how my week started out with my roommate finding such a site that invaded her system.  This happened on Monday.  So, here, Saturday, I finally have in total cleared the system... Only to have the amusement of watching her LCD screen pick up a new issue:  A blatant white line, sometimes blue, in the middle of her screen going across it.  Some times I miss the days of CRTs.

Just before this escapade began, we had our two boys, Screech and Sunset, fixed.  I think they're finally forgiving me for being the one to take them to the vet.  I will admit, watching them come out of the anesthesia was amusing, especially the attempt to walk.  Thankfully, we have some greatly skilled vets in the area, and I was only parted with the boys for about twelve hours. Yes, I know, I'm sappy where the cats are concerned.  Jericho, the kitten we rescued, learned why not to try and play with recovering cats.

So, to add to the amusement of this week's escapades, and everyone learning that I do indeed know how to curse like a sailor in several languages, our sometime roommate Anubis decided he would be nice and walk up to the grocer's to pick me up some Mt Dew.  I adore him for this when he volunteers such.  What I don't adore are jerks who find it absolutely neccessary to drop off two defenseless puppies into the middle of our neighborhood, leaving them at the mercy of traffic.  Which of course Anubis tried to find their owners but they are now temporary residents in the library.  (Yes, I will post pictures today.)  Two days later, we're still trying to find a shelter to take them in because we just don't have the resources for two half rotti/half german shepherd puppies... with huge paws, bright eyes and... Why do baby animals have to be so cute?

So, given the title, people must wonder why I can after having only fifteen hours of sleep this week still find amusement in the world?  Well, there are a few reasons.  I have 29 days until I go to Disney World for a family vacation (YAY!).  Anyone who has ever spent time with a kitten and puppies would also understand why no matter how irritated, having them come up for attention and to just love on you makes everything in the world seem worth it.

Which I guess brings me to the close of this.  If you have to have an animal, try adopting.  They have cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, bunnies, rats, you name it and there is a rescue place for it.  There are too many abandoned to let them stay in the pound.
