A time to grieveSubmitted by bbeitel on Mon, 03/24/2008 - 15:08.
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about this show, and what it means. Some have said it feels like they've lost a family member. I can certainly understand that. Significant losses of any kind (home, job, pets, etc) trigger a natural grief response. We've all been going through the stages, without realizing it. DENIAL: "I can't believe this happened! CBS was really going to count all of our online and time-shifted numbers, and were going to have a 3rd season." ANGER: CBS stands for Cowardly Beaurocratic Sycophants! They never gave Jericho a chance, then they wouldn't even tell us directly when it was cancelled! BARGAINING: "Maybe if we're really super nice, they'll give us another chance! Let's all raise money and see if we can't get them to shop the show!" DEPRESSION: "Oh man, what am I going to do now? Without Jericho, life is meaningless! Now, where did I stash my "Smashing Pumpkins" CD's?" ACCEPTANCE: "Thanks CBS for these 7 wonderful episodes, and while I may not be happy about it, life goes on." Now, some of these are obviously very tongue-in-cheek, but they do represent the process we're all going through. I guess my point is: Even if the worst happens, and Tuesday's episode is the last we see of Jericho, KS, we Rangers accomplished something that nearly everyone thought was impossible. We resurrected a television show, if only for a short time, and every one of us will keep Jericho alive in some way. I won't discount the possibility that another network will take a chance on the dream that is Jericho, but it's not going to consume me if it doesn't. Take your time, and grieve! No matter where you are on the road, you have to go through the denial, anger, bargaining and depression before you can accept what has happened.

What a wonderful write up bbeitel. You hit it righ on, what a lot of people are going through. Well, except for the Smashing Pumpkins.. I'm looking for my Jeff Buckley CD, but the reasons are all the same nonetheless.
Thank you for your words.

Well, I felt like I had to take off my fan cap, and put on my therapist cap for a minute. I think we're all going through this process, and it's not an easy thing. Funny, how one can be so affected by something as simple as a TV show!
