"Somebody said that it couldn't be done, but he with a chuckle replied
That 'maybe it couldn't,' but he would be one who wouldn't say so till he tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin on his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing that couldn't be done, and he did it."
(Edgar A Guest, "It Couldn't Be Done")

Do you all really understand what Jericho fans have done? Do you know what those three weeks of steady bombardment of CBS with phone calls, emails, postcards and letters did? Do you all recall what it felt like to bring a global corporation to a near-complete standstill? Have we all forgotten what those 20 tons of nuts did? It sure seems like. Every where I turn there's an argument, or bickering, or downright mean talk about someone. Did we do all that just to dissolve into ... well, into a seething mass of negativity?

Wake up, folks! We, as a group, accomplished something which had never been done before! Never have so many gathered so quickly and done so much in so little time. Never! It took CBS by surprise, and it sure forced the network to sit up and notice of us. What we did will define the way networks view audiences for years to come. If nothing else, we made brought a major television network to a half. We made them take a step back and question the whys and hows of things.

As has been said many times before, CBS created this JERICHO fan-base because it wanted smart, "Net savvy viewers." CBS wanted an audience that could negotiate a message board and offer stimulating, intelligent discussion. Well, CBS got exactly that, then lost control of their own creation. Their "monster" began questioning its creator, and demanding he answer. Their "monster" didn't take JERICHO's cancelation lying down. Their "monster" didn't behave, it stood up, and it said, "No!" and meant it. Their "monster" didn't meekly swallow its diet of inane reality shows, and it isn't going to be satisfied with multiple CSI spinoffs.

We made history. We impacted CBS. The network listened. CBS paid attention, and learned a lesson. Sadly, CBS learned the lesson too well, and even though they reversed their decision regarding the cancellaiton, we only one a battle. The war is still going on, and the Corporate Mind moves quickly when it comes to making money. I'm sure CBS is happy we've slowed down and accepted the placebo they offered. It gets them off the hook, and puts the blame on US if we don't fill those seats come the new Season. CBS is biding its. The Corporate Mind can be patient, but WE cannot be so patient. CBS can afford to offer us those 7 episodes; they're fairly certain their monster has been tamed. They're sure we'll sit back and be happy with a 7-hour miniseries.

There is hope. As long as there is life, there is always hope, and Jericho is still very much alive.

Take a moment to reflect upon what we've done, but don't quit. Don't accept just seven episodes; we want a full season! By all means, pat yourself on the back for getting those seven new episodes, because we did what NO ONE ELSE EVER HAS. We are as unique as JERICHO is, and we're already winners. But don't give up. Keep on writing, calling, emailing. Keep promoting JERICHO -- and for all that's at stake, stop the in-fighting. Quit fighting, quit bickering. Turn that negative energy into getting a full third season for JERICHO! Let's put all the negativity behind us. Take a collective deep breath, and press on regardless!!

"Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance." (Samuel Johnson)
