THE REAL LIFE PARALLELS OF JERICHO
"Four Horsemen"Niagara Falls(Skylar's House)
(Dale is looking at a snow globe that says "Niagara Falls")
*[Niagara Falls did survive the attacks].

Lindsay Lohan (Gracie's Market)
Lisa: I wonder what Lindsay Lohan is doing right now. You think she's still alive?
Skylar: I'm trying to find my parents Lis, I could care less. Great, my batteries almost dead.
Dale: Excuse me, sorry.
Skylar: Do you guys sell phone chargers?
Dale: um... what kind of phone?
Dale: I'll check the back.
Skylar: Thanks.
Lisa: Why do you like that freak?
Skylar: Why do you like stupid bulimic actresses?
Alice in Wonderland(Inside the Library)
Heather: Ashlee!
(Heather picks up Alice in Wonderland)
Heather: Hey Ashlee. Lets get out of here. Let's go. C'mon.
Kansas Liberty Bank(Gracie's Market)

9/11Eric: Since when do we let foreign jets fly through our airspace?
Hawkins: It happened only once. Italy patrolled the border after 9/11. But that was it.
"Long Live The Mayor"Eric: What about any other major cities? New York, DC?
Gray: They didn't get New York.
Hawkins: What? New York made it?
Gray: Yeah, well after 9/11 they got pretty good at security. Apparently NYPD caught three guys before they flipped the switch. They had a rented van, a 20 kiloton bomb in a steel drum.
Jake: And what about DC?
Gray: It's gone.
"The Day Before"
Afghanistan War
Iraq WarMan: I see you're an Embry-Riddle grad.
Jake: Yeah
Man: ATPC certified, 1600 verified FAA hours. Clearly well qualified Mr. Green.
Jake: Well, flying is in my blood. I started working on my grandpas crop duster when I was 10.
Man: Now, you understand that we charter exclusively to top executives, and celebrity clients, so absolute discretion is a must for a flight crew.
Jake: Hey, anything past getting the plane safely from A to B, is none of my business.
Man: Good, of course finding out everything we can about the people piloting our planes is our business. And according to your visa records, you spent a little time in the Middle East over last few years.
Jake: 14 months in Afghanistan, 6 in Iraq.
Man: But you were never military.
Jake: I worked for an independent contractor.
Man: Left that off the resume.
Jake: I didn't think it was relevant.
Man: State Department has you flagged as a person of interest.
Jake: Well, I'm an interesting guy. There was an incident. I was in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Man: Which contractor were you working with when this... incident occurred?
Jake: One of the big ones.
Man: Haliburton, Blackwater?
Jake: You said discretion was a must.
Man: Look, I'm going to be straight with you. I think there is room in our operation for someone like you, but there's no way I can hire you if you are unable to clear this up. You understand that?
Jake: Thank you for your time.
The incident was the accidental killing of a 12 year old girl in Iraq.
Major Edward Beck, an Iraq War veteran, portrayed by Esai Morales, leads the 10th Mountain Division, out of Fort Drum, New York,
sent to occupy Jericho and New Bern in season two. Beck publicly considers his primary mission to be peacekeeping and the restoration of order. His wife was in Santa Fe when the bombs went off, but he remains confident that she is alive despite failed attempts to contact her. After he later learns that the new government covered up the origins of bombs and unjustly destroyed two nations, Iran and North Korea, he sides with the town of Jericho.
Santa Fe, New Mexico, it is indicated that Major Beck's wife was in Santa Fe during the attack and has lost contact with her. Santa Fe survived the attacks.
Witchita, Kansas also survived the attacks but, succumbed to Ravenwood occupation.

Sinead O'Connor (Outside Town Hall)
Emily: Hey, what are you doing?
Jake: Putting a hand pump on this well, so we don't have to waste generator power for water.
Emily: There's really a well under there?
Jake: First well in Jericho, according to the sign.
Emily: I remember the first that happened right there
Jake: Ohhhhoh, you shouldn't have dared me.
Emily: Nobody had to dare you.
Jake: Yeah, well I remember one of your finer moments. Right over there behind Bailey's.
Emily: Yeah, let's not talk about that. I can get sick right here.
Jake: Yeah, some people can't hold their apple wine coolers.
Emily: Yeah, well...
Jake: You kept singing that depressing song by that uh... bald girl.
Emily: Sinead O'Connor, and that was our song.
Jake: Our song? I never got to vote.
Emily: Hey um... let's, let's talk about what happened right there. The day you went to go get medicine for your dad. Heather kissed you. She talked to me about ya. I... I don't want her to get hurt.
Jake: I have no plans to do that.

USA Today (Headquarters in Tysons Corner, Virginia, a Washington, D.C. suburb, destroyed in 2006 September Attacks.)
Eric: USA Today is having a contest to decide the top 5 towns under 5000, I was thinking we should submit Jericho.
Johnston: Why? So some big developer can come in and start buying the town up, maybe turn main street into a strip mall, or half a dozen coffee shops or so?
Eric: Dad, there are worse things in the world than venti Frappuccinos.
Johnston: Speak English.
Internal Revenue Service (Main headquarters building in Washington, D.C. destroyed in 2006 September Attacks. New headquarters at the Bricker Federal Building in Columbus, Ohio.)
(Outside Town Hall)
Mimi: Do you know where the Richmond Farm is?
Stanley: Well yeah, I ought to, I'm Stanley Richmond.
Mimi: *laughs* You gotta be kidding.
Stanley: No. See now's the part where you tell me your name.
Mimi: Mimi Clarke.
Stanley: Well it's nice to meet you Miss Clarke.
Mimi: Do you not read your mail?
Stanley: Nope, nothing but bills and bad news, why?
Mimi: Well, this would be a little of both. I work for the IRS. And according to our records, you owe more than $180,000 in back taxes. It's nice to meet you.
Major League BaseballStanley and Mimi in Bailey's)
Stanley: "Seat's all yours. I hate sitting when I have money on a game." (Stanley looks up at TV screen. His team wins the baseball game.) Stanley: "YES! YES! Yes. Ha, Mary Bailey, you owe me five bucks. PAY UP!!!" (Turns to Mimi.) "Better yet...drink on me?"
Mimi: Don't waste your money, I have an expense account." (Orders drink. Turns to Stanley.) Mimi: (annoyed): "Did you know it is three hour cab ride from the airport out to this little town?"
Stanley: "Scenic, though, ain't it?"
Mimi: "If you like corn."
Muse (Band was touring the United States at the time of the attacks and was in between gigs in Grand Prairie, Texas [located between Dallas and Fort Worth and was destroyed in the attacks] and Las Vegas, Nevada [partially destroyed in the attacks]. No close targets {the St. George/Cedar City, Utah blast would have been just safely far enough away to the southwest} along route from Grand Prairie to Las Vegas enabled Muse [Matthew Bellamy – vocals, guitars, piano, keyboards, synthesizers, programming, Christopher
Wolstenholme – bass, backing vocals, synthesizers, double bass, Dominic Howard – drums, percussion, synthesizers, programming, Morgan Nicholls – keyboards, synthesizers, backing vocals, percussion, and Dan "The Trumpet Man" Newell – trumpet on "City of Delusion" and "Knights of Cydonia", off of their CD "Black Holes & Revelations" released on July 3, 2006] to have survived the attacks but, put an abrupt end to the American leg of their international concert tour. Muse was trapped in the USA/ASA for quite some time before being able to return to the U.K.)
("Starlight" from Muse was released as a single on September 4, 2006, just 2 weeks and 2 days before the bombs).

Carter AdministrationJake: Did you ask mom?
Johnston: Son, I'm 59 years old, I was mayor of this town since the Carter administration, I'm a retired U.S. Army Ranger, and Combat veteran. Of course I asked your mother.

World War I Memorialized by the statue in front of Jericho City Hall.
http://vidiot.com/Jericho/images/Jericho-207a-1.png"Condor"Vietnam War Emily and Eric enter Gray's office to show him the new high school textbooks Jennings & Rall expect Emily to use. They give a very definite revisionist history take to post-war (WWII) America. Among other things, the textbook implies that the Vietnam War was winnable but we pulled out too early in 1975. *(The United States pulled out of Vietnam in 1973. Saigon fell to the communists on April 30, 1975).
*{Actully however, the Vietnam War was winnable, just not the way the ASA would have won it, with nuclear weapons}.
"Cuban Missile Crisis" The new high school textbooks Jennings & Rall expects Emily to use also infer that the Kennedy administration showed weakness by negotiating with the Soviet Union and Fidel Castro to have nuclear missiles removed from Cuba instead of attacking them.
World War II The new high school textbooks Jennings & Rall expect Emily to use also claim that the United States was in a state of decline ever since the end of World War II. (Jake's grandfather [Eric Jacob Green] was a World War II veteran as well).
http://battlebloggalactica.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/tt-jericho-vid-textbook.jpg Los Angeles TimesReporter Alex Utley from the Modesto Bee disclosed to Jake during a conversation with him that before this he worked for the Los Angeles Times (headquarters in the Los Angeles Times Building destroyed in 2006 September Attacks) and won two Pulitzer prizes, (still administered by Columbia University in New York City today) “so I’ve got a pretty good idea about what it means to be a journalist and they don’t exist anymore”.
Watergate Reporter Alex Utley stated to Jake during a conversation that he remembers when “two men with a typewriter took down the White House because people listened. They got angry and they acted.” (He referenced Woodward and Bernstein of the Washington Post [headquarters destroyed in 2006 September Attacks] breaking the Watergate scandal during the Nixon administration [Bob Woodward lived in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C. and was still employed by the Washington Post as an associate editor at the time of the attacks and was killed. Carl Bernstein was living and working for Vanity Fair {where he is still curently employed} in New York City {where he still currently resides in} at the time of the attacks and survived]).

Second Amendment The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects a right to keep and bear arms.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Gray Anderson (Michael Gaston) was disgruntled by the Allied States Constitutional Convention in which they
shot down the Second Amendment.
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/jericho/jericho-episode-27-patriots-an-17954.aspx Making matters much worse concerning the Second Admendment was that the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia (18 miles from Washington, D.C.) was destroyed in the attacks although the Second Admendment remained a part of the original United States Constitution.

Subway *Subway Restaurants could have survived the attacks. Subway had restaurants in 85 nations at the time of the attacks in September 2006. Subway's corporate headquarters is located in Milford, Connecticut, 42 miles southwest of Hartford, Connecticut (destroyed in attacks) and could have conceivably survived the attacks.
http://jericho.wetpaint.com/page/Preview+Page+for+Issue+3+of+the+Jericho+Season+3+%E2%80%93+Civil+War+comicTragically however, Subway's sandwich spokesperson Jared Fogle (the Subway Guy) would have been killed for he was in Seattle (destroyed in attacks) from his home in Indianapolis (destroyed in attacks) to promote the pilot of a 9-week “curriculum” for elementary school kids to help them eat and exercise “smarter” and thereby keep childhood obesity in check at the time of the attacks in September 2006.
