Emily Rose has been tapped to star in USA Network's medical-themed pilot "Operating Instructions," lifting the cast-contingency on the project.

"Instructions," from Conan O'Brien's Conaco and Universal Cable Prods., centers on a top female trauma surgeon (Rose) who returns home from two tours in Iraq to take a post as head of surgery at a military hospital.

O'Brien, Conaco president David Kissinger, Judd Pillot and John Peaslee are the executive producers on the project, which was given a 90-minute pilot order last month. Pillot and Peaslee wrote the script.

Rose's credits include ABC's "Brothers & Sisters," NBC's "ER" and CBS' "Jericho."
